You are NOT ALONE!
After much procrastination, I’ve decided why not attempt writing about it, we are all going through our own journeys & struggles. Let’s share them so we don’t feel so alone!
A bit about me ;
25, PTSD sufferer (not at the the survivor stage just yet), victim of migraines, pastry chef, & in the midst of figuring life out (really not too well).
Where do I start? Depression? Anxiety? Why is it not spoken of more? And why, when we do tell people about your mental health, they get uncomfortable?
In recent events – with the passing of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, it’s shone a huge light on a few things ;
- NO-ONE talks about it
- It does not matter who you are, if you’re a sufferer, we are ALL in the same boat.
- We definitely need more awareness, + to not be afraid to speak.
I have had PTSD for a few years now, currently in therapy for it, but it never quite leaves you, does it? Top that with an addiction problem, you have yourself a recipe for a lifetime in therapy! Yet only a handful of people know this. Because telling someone you live with a condition that is not physically visible, goes past most people’s heads. If it’s in your mind it should be an easy fix, hey? Wrong. It’s so much harder because we are also faced with the stigma, the stares, the “don’t be sad.” Oh gee thanks, we did not think of that. We woke up this morning thinking, “nope, today I will choose to be sad, screw happiness!” Why would we want to live this? Voluntarily?!
Just a quick first post to introduce myself. No, this blog is not going to be centred around this, we will discuss everything this lovely age entails. But as this is currently a huge issue, it felt like the best way to start and say, you are not alone.
Sending love your way,
Emma B ♡
